Product efficacy

Our disinfectant products contain active substances which have bactericidal and/or virucidal activity. In order to confirm the level of active substances, all products are tested according to European standards.

Our cleansing products are specifically designed to disinfect. For example Surface Cleanser kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses*. Our cleaning products are specifically designed for high cleaning performance. For example, our Multi Purpose Cleaner, additionally to is antibacteria properties, tackles tough kitchen grease and bathroom dirt.

According to the in vitro study done by Microbac (an external laboratory in the US) in 2020, certain Dettol products* are proven to be effective in killing 99.9% of the new coronavirus under test conditions. Test data is only for reference. *Includes Antiseptic Liquid (EN14476:2013+A2:2019, at 1:50 dilution with a contact time of 5 mins); Bar Soap (ASTM E1052-20, at 16% dilution with a contact time of 1 min); Hand Wash (ASTM E1052-20, at 25% dilution with a contact time of 1 min); Instant Hand Sanitizer (EN14476:2013+A2:2019, undiluted with a contact time of 1 min); Laundry Sanitizer Lavender (EN14476:2013+A2:2019, at 1:50 dilution with a contact time of 15 mins); Floor Cleaner (EN14476:2013+A2: 2019, at 1:16 dilution with a contact time of 5 mins); Disinfecting Surface Wipes (ASTM E1053-11, neat at 105 secs contact time); Disinfectant Spray (EN14476:2013+A2:2019, neat at 5 mins. contact time); Surface Cleanser (EN14476:2013+A2:2019, neat at 5 mins)

As a fundamental part of our ethical approach we are committed to not conducting animal testing unless we are legally required to. If the safety of the product is in question or there is a requirement to provide pre-human clinical trial information for our health portfolio, we will undergo testing.

Health & Allergies

When our products are used correctly, they may be safe to use around pets. However, do not allow pets to lick or walk over wet and freshly disinfected surfaces. Ensure to thoroughly rinse off feeding bowls/toys before handing them back to your pet. Use disinfectants safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
